Matthew Ockendon is a Consultant Orthopaedic Spinal Surgeon working at the Robert Jones and Agnes Hunt Orthopaedic Hospital in Oswestry, Shropshire where he is currently serving as the clinical lead for Spinal Disorders.
He sits on the Greater Manchester and Oswestry Sarcoma Service bone tumour Multidisciplinary Team and is a member of the Society of Lateral Access Surgeons.
He was an undergraduate at St Mary's Hospital School of Medicine (part of the Imperial College School of Medicine, London) and graduated with honours.
Having completed his basic surgical training on the Bristol programme, he moved to the prestigious Oswestry-Stoke training programme for higher surgical training. He was awarded fellowship of the Royal College of Surgeons of England having passed the FRCS(Tr&Orth) examination. His spinal training was in Bristol, Owestry and Stoke as well as training as the Norman Capener Spinal Fellow in Exeter.
He has been on the GMC Specialist Register since August 2013.
